I was born and raised in Southern Ontario so, in a way, this was coming home. . .
except that the northern part of Ontario is quite foreign to me. I’ve not been farther north than Sault Ste. Marie, so the area of Ontario that we entered was a new find.The entire stretch around Lake Superior is a recreational enthusiasts paradise with campsites in populated and remote areas. We chose sites close to Highway 17 so we could maximize our travel time. Along the way we saw:
Pristine lakes and roads blasted out of mountains which were reminiscent of what we see in BC:
Lake of the Woods and Kenora:
Lake-front cottages and Davy Lake in Ignace where we camped for a night.
